RETROFIT is the buzzword lately, with the Majority of our housing stock needing updated to reach energy efficiency standards. But, without VENTILATION, Is your Retrofit a Good Fit?
According to Energy Saving Trust;
“More than 80% of the homes we’ll be living in by 2050 have already been built and the majority will require major upgrades to reach required energy efficiency standards”
UK Green Building Council States;
“With possibly the oldest and leakiest housing stocks in western Europe, 29 million homes will need retrofitting before 2050. UKGBC is calling for a nationwide strategy to upgrade 19 million of these homes in the next decade.”
Sounds Daunting? Fortunately, VENTI is able and ready to partner with retrofit companies to ensure energy efficiency isn’t impeded by poor ventilation measures.
When making housing stock energy efficient, using External or Internal Wall Insulation (EWI or IWI) or upgrading windows, causes homes to be more airtight. Unfortunately, up until recently, ventilation hasn’t been adequately considered for. So – without Ventilation properly considered for and implemented, Is your Retrofit is a Good Fit? Absolutely not. Poorly ventilated homes causes build up of indoor air pollutants which can be 2-5x more concentrated than outdoors.
Energy efficiency and airtightness is key but without effective ventilation, dwellings are both harder to heat and will be unable to breathe & expel indoor air pollutants & excess moisture.
Healthy Buildings are ones that breathe, just like us!
Any effective retrofit program must include a ventilation strategy, as outlined in recent regulations Part F, Part O and Part L, plus PAS2030/35.
Ventilation compliance can be a minefield and it can be hard knowing where to start. VENTI are here to help you create and plan a fully compliant ventilation strategy which will compliment & enhance your retrofit program!
The Problem:
29 Million Homes that need retrofitting to make them energy efficient & reach net zero by 2050.
THE FURTHER PROBLEM:
Making homes airtight without including proper ventilation is no longer legally compliant.
The Solution:
VENTI Group are working with retrofit companies, combatting this problem by planning for ventilation strategies at the outset. Our Ventilation Systems are specifically designed to compliment & enhance retrofit measures for carbon reduction and energy efficiency whilst maintaining indoor air quality.
- Increased energy efficiency: Through maintaining indoor climate & optimal humidity, thus contributing to net zero goals. Ventilation with heat recovery systems can cut heating bills and energy usage whilst maintaining fresh air flow
- Improved health and well-being for occupants: Residents breathe easier, experience fewer respiratory & mould related health issues, and enjoy a more comfortable living space
- Reduced maintenance costs & remediation: Dampness and mould damage is minimised, lowering repairs and maintenance cost in terms of both time & resource for retrofit companies
- Enhanced company profile: Retrofit company’s reputation for net zero contribution and compliance with current ventilation regulations; outlined in Part F, Part O & Part L
- Compliance with PAS2030/35
