Private renters have a high likelihood of living in poor-quality homes, with 21% in non-decent conditions, 12% in homes with Category 1 hazards, and 10% experiencing damp issues.

Private renters (10%, 441,000) are most likely to live in damp homes, followed by local authority renters (7%, 109,000) and housing association renters (4%, 106,000), compared to owner occupiers (2%, 354,000).
